Privacy

We respect privacy and understand that you could always be working with sensitive data which is why we do not track anything personally identifiable while you use our Add-ins. We also believe in transparency which is why we are providing this very clear description of what gets logged while you use our add-ins.
We absolutely gather analytics about the Add-in usage to guide development, but only the following is logged for analytics with a time stamp and session ID*:
1. Country of User and Office Client version at Launch
2. Click Events in the Task Pane (e.g.: use of Help bubbles, instructions, )
(not clicks in your spreadsheets or Word documents)
3. Domain of User at Sign-in
(e.g.: ctxnxt.de)
#3 only applies for Add-ins with Authentication- see below for details.

So what does this mean?
#1 Tells us in which regions are customers are located and what client software they use. We gather this to help locate app services close to clients and to prioritize localized experiences in the regions where people are using the add-ins, improving User Experiences. The information about the Office client informs development for specific platforms, like "PowerPoint on Android" or "Excel on MacOS".
#2 Is everything you click inside the add-in in the Task Pane. This tells us which features are the most used, and how they are used. For example, a user launches CTX Text, clicks to see basic instructions, clicks to see where a license key is applied. This information with time stamps and session IDs shows us whether or not the info panels are being used.
#3 Tells us whether or not you are in a specially paid domain. If your business is licensing premium features for bulk usage we need this to enable those features. If you loaded CTX Text from App Source, this does not apply to you.

*What are Session IDs & Time Stamps? The session ID is a random identifier assigned to you each time an add-in loads. It allows us to correlate usage events without using a permanent or individually identifiable value. The Time Stamp is just what it sounds like, a label indicating the time of the event. This allows us to see events in sequence and get an idea of how much time people spend using specific features.
As long as we are here, let's highlight some things that are never-ever logged for analytics:
Your name
Your user ID
The data that you interact with in your documents- your data is your data!

Further, if you are using CTX Text you should know that the only information that gets sent to ContextNext is your license key. Not sure? After loading CTX Text, turn off your internet connection and try using the functions- it works just like if you were online. Only license activation needs an internet connection.
